1. opening act : an entertainment offered at the opening of a concert or a spectacle
ex) I think for us, kissing is pretty much like an opening act, you know.
I mean, it's like the stand-up comedian you have to sit through before Pink Floyd comes out.
2. border on : be close to
ex) You're not actually suggesting Hellen Willick-Bunch-Geller, are you?
'Cause I think that borders on child abuse.
3. get one's way : eventually fulfill one's desires despite of not appearing to do so in the beginning or despite adversities
ex) He knows they'll wind up calling her Geller then he gets his way.
4. well up : start accumulating tears in one's eyes
ex) You are. You're welling up. You're gonna be an aunt.
5. cheap shot : ungraceful act of assault or revenge
ex) I know it was a cheap shot but I feel so much better now.
